The Brussels-Capital Region's research, development and innovation (RDI) sector has everything it takes to tackle the region's societal challenges. This is the main conclusion of the first "Brussels Innovation Insights" issue.
Like other European city regions, the Brussels-Capital Region is confronted with many social developments and challenges in terms of the environment, mobility, prosperity, employment and social inequality. One of the crucial elements in meeting these challenges is the potential of the RDI sector. Within this ecosystem, researchers, whether they work in research institutions, companies or the non-profit sector, look for workable solutions to concrete social issues.
Because of the social importance of the RDI sector, we surveyed its health and arrived at a number of promising findings.
