Towards a Sustainable Energy Transition in Urban Areas: encouraging collaborations between research organizations and mentor(s)

Could your research be carried out by a transdisciplinary consortium of research organizations and mentor(s) located in the Brussels-Capital Region?
Is the medium term objective of your research project to valorize its results through actions, that would foster the sustainable energy transition in the Brussels-Capital Region?
If yes, then you should consider applying for the RPF call 2026
Are you eligible?
- Your project is in line with the theme of the call for projects.
- Your project is executed by a consortium of at least two separate research organizations, which have operating headquarters in the Brussels-Capital Region. The research groups also have complementary but different areas of expertise.
- Your project involves at least one Brussels-based company ("mentor") that reflects the socio-technical importance of your proposal. Additional mentors such as NGOs or public institutions may also be involved.

The procedure in 4 steps
- Download the guidelines of the call and the application form. The documents are only available in French and Dutch (except for the regulations), but you may complete them in English. Make sure to go through our accounting directives.
- Submit your project outline using the form below no later than 23 June 2025 at 12 noon.
- If your project is selected, you must submit a full proposal no later than 24 October 2025 at 12 noon.
- If your full proposal is considered eligible, it will be assessed by a panel of experts. The assessment will be based on the documents submitted and an interview, according to the criteria listed on the form.
Other information
- The funding covers a period of minimum 2 and maximum 3 years.
- Research organizations are funded at 100%.
- There are two phases for submitting an application under RPF. Firstly, the expression of interest phase (until 23 June 2025). If the analysis is favourable, you can submit a full proposal (until 24 October 2025).
- Following your grant application, you will receive confirmation of your application within 2 hours. If you do not receive confirmation, you must contact us in any case
