Women Award in Technology and Science

ENDED Deadline: 15 May 2024

Who will be our next Women Award in Technology and Science (WATS) ambassador?

With the Women Award in Technology and Science (WATS), the Brussels-Capital Region and Innoviris wish to reward women active in the Brussels scientific or technological sector and who are committed to promoting the place of women in STEM. At the same time, the prize aims to give more visibility to female role models.

A myriad of role models

Role models come in all shapes and sizes. To get involved in STEM, young girls often look to both everyday and exceptional role models for inspiration. Marie Curie and Ada Lovelace have embarked on extraordinary journeys and have accomplished great things, inspiring young girls to dream big. But at the same time, these girls also need role models who are closer to them, with whom they can more easily identify, so they can say to themselves: "If this person can do it, then so can I!". With our initiative, we aim to reach out to women with different backgrounds in various scientific and technological fields. We target  researchers, entrepreneurs and  science outreach actors equally.

Are you eligible?

  • You are a woman who lives or works in Brussels
  • You have at least 6 years' experience in the fields of science, technology, engineering or mathematics after secondary education.
  • You are active in science outreach: you have taken at least one outreach action
  • You are committed to or want to work for the place of girls and women in STEM fields
  • You have a concrete plan to get more girls and young women in the Brussels-Capital Region involved in STEM.
